ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The Bethel Royals defeated two regionally ranked teams to place 11th with 330 team points on Saturday at the Augustana Interregional Invitational. The top 3 Royals all earned personal best times and placed themselves in the top-20 performers in program history.
For the second race in a row, senior captain Grace Cole was the top finisher for Bethel. Cole placed 53rd overall with her time of 23:09. That time is the 14th fastest 6k in program history. Sophomore Raina Moorjani had an enormous improvement from her first 6k, just two weeks ago. Moorjani ran 23:17 to take 61st place and is now the 17th fastest runner in program history. Erika Swanson was just one place behind in 62nd with her time of 23:22 and is now the 18th best performer in program history. Freshman Evie Hage was only 2 seconds off her personal best with a time of 23:39, good enough for 71st place. Malakai Holloway rounded out the scoring for Bethel with her 127th place finish in 24:40 - a season best.Â
The Royals now enter their championship season. After one weekend away from racing, Bethel will compete next at the MIAC Championships on Saturday, October 30th at St. Olaf.
