INDIANPOLIS – Recent graduate
Taite Anderson, who was a four-year member of the Bethel University women's basketball team, has been awarded the prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship for the winter of 2020. The scholarship awards Anderson $10,000 to apply towards a postgraduate degree.
Bethel has reached an incredible mark of three student-athletes receiving the scholarship this academic year, which is an institutional and MIAC record, with spring awardees yet to be announced. The Royals have had 16 student-athletes receive the honor in total.
The Royals second all-time leading scorer with 1,679 points is also the single-season scoring queen with 554 points, which she dropped this past season averaging 20.5 points. She also claimed the single-season field goal percentage record with a 62.8 percent mark surpassing JoAnn Griffin who held the record since 1980-81. Anderson became the school's first-ever WBCA First Team All-American and D3hoops.com All-American being named to the second team. The MIAC Player of the Year also became the program's third four-time All-Conference honoree while being named the D3hoops.com West Region Player of the Year.
A biokinetics major, Anderson is a two-time Academic All-Conference selection and just this year was named to the CoSIDA First Team Academic All-America. Professionally she spent over 200 hours as a clinical service intern with RedBrick Health/Virgin Pulse, 50 hours as an intern with Bristlecone Clinical and was a biokinetics student lab technician. This past February she published research and presented at the Metabolic Health Summit.
Anderson is pursuing her masters degree in nursing and then will pursue her doctorate. She was supported with a letter of endorsement from faculty member Dr. Kelly Gibas.
