AUSTIN, Texas – Senior forward
Taite Anderson was recognized for her academic achievements last week being named to the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball First Team Academic All-America®, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The Biokinetics major who boasted a 3.70 GPA became the first player in program history to be named to the first team – eighth in Bethel history – and second Academic All-American in three seasons with Abby Miller being named to the third team in 2018.
Going down as one of the greatest offensive players in program history, Anderson finished her career in the Navy and Vegas Gold as the second all-time leading scorer with 1,697 points. This came courtesy of a single-season record 554 points this year which was highlighted by double-digit scoring figures in every contest and a career-high 31 points against Hamline on Jan. 25.
She shot a single-season record 62.8 percent (206-of-328) from the field leading to a 57.8 percent career mark while bringing in 705 career boards ranking fifth in program history.
Anderson and the Royals completed the most historic season in program history with a 26-2 mark while winning the program's first-ever MIAC Playoff Championship and appearing in their sixth NCAA Tournament.
