RESULTS

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Senior Kyle Stichman and Freshman Lukas Walton competed for Bethel in the decathlon at the MIAC Multi-Event Championships on Thursday and Friday at Carleton College. Walton came away with a 6th place finish with 5786 points and Stichman placed 11th with a lifetime best score of 5096 points. "These guys have been a joy to coach all year long," says multi-events coach Kevin Rengo. "Their work ethic and mentality in track and in life couldn't be better."

Lukas Walton's score of 5786 was the second best point total by a freshman at the MIAC Multi-Events Championships in the last decade. He now ranks 35th on the NCAA Division III Honor Roll and is the 8th best performer in Bethel's school history. "Lukas has had an incredible freshman year," says Rengo. "His love for his teammates, the sport of track and field, and his desire to improve has been amazing."

Kyle Stichman had a lifetime best score of 5096 points, which is 261 points better than his previous best point total. "Kyle is going to be a legend of the multi-events at Bethel," says Rengo. "I've never seen someone develop so greatly as "Stich" did over his career. He was never slowed down by anything, but kept pushing himself and always believed he could do more. He took himself from a 3768 point decathlon his freshman year and made himself into a MIAC point-scorer (at the MIAC Indoor Championships), and added 1328 points to his decathlon total. I can't say enough about the man he has become and I will personally miss him greatly."
