The Bethel Royals had two individuals and two relays qualify for the NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships. The championships will be contested at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
Junior Delia Labatt will represent the women's team in the 400m. Labatt ran 56.09 at the Meet of the Unsaintly and comes in with the 7th fastest time. Delia will be racing in the prelims from lane six in heat number three on Friday at 2:00 PM. The winner of each heat plus the next six fastest times will advance to the finals on Saturday at 12:10 PM.
Senior Carl Klamm is seeded 5th in the men's 400m with his winning time from the MIAC Championships of 47.40. Carl will be racing in the prelims from lane six in heat number two on Friday at 2:15 PM. The winner of each heat plus the next six fastest times will advance to the finals on Saturday at 12:20 PM.
Both the men's and women's 4x400m relay teams also qualified for the championships. TThe women's team of Hannah Sankey, Delia Labatt, Corin McKinstrey, and AddieKay Johnson ran 3:48.99 at the Drake Relays and will be racing from lane two in heat number three on Thursday at 5:15 PM. The top two teams from each heat and the next five fastest times will advance to the finals on Saturday at 2:50 PM. That same team took 3rd in this event during the Indoor Championships, earning them the title of All-Americans. This is the 4th straight national qualifying 4x400m relay for the women.
The men's 4x400m relay team of Shawn Monroe, Isaac Erickson, Nolan Metz, and Carl Klamm also qualified with their time of 3:13.44 from the Drake Relays. That same quartet of runners earned All-American status as they placed 5th at the Indoor Championships. This is the 7th straight appearance for Bethel's men's 4x400m relay. The Royals will race out of lane eight in heat number one on Thursday at 5:30 PM. The top two teams from each heat and the next five fastest times will advance to the finals on Saturday at 3:00 PM.
