ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Bethel women's track and field team finished in 4th place at the MIAC Outdoor Championships with 77Â team points. "It's been an amazing year with this team," says Head Coach Andrew Rock. "We had some athletes step up in a big way on the biggest stage of the year for the majority of our team."
On day two of the championship weekend, the top finish of the day came in the final event of the meet, the 4x400m relay. Hannah Sankey, Delia Labatt, Corin McKinstrey, and AddieKay Johnson came together to run 3:54.47 and easily took 1st place in the race. The Royals also enjoyed success in the first relay of the day, the 4x100m relay. Grace Scott, Labatt, Syri Williams, and Grace Perrenoud passed the baton around the track in 48.76 to earn 2nd place.
Junior Corin McKinstrey was the top individual finisher for the Royals. McKinstrey ran a very well executed 400m hurdle race in 1:03.69 to earn runner-up in the event. In the sprint events, Delia Labatt, AddieKay Johnson, and Hannah Sankey were tied up in a thrilling 400m race in which 1st place and 5th place were separated by a mere 0.36 seconds. Labatt was orignially awarded 3rd place, missing 2nd by one one-thousanth of a second. However, upon further review of official video, the officals overturned their original call and awarded a tie for second place in 57.48. Johnson earned 4th (57.66), and Sankey was in 5th (57.70). Grace Scott came back after leading off the 4x100m relay team to run the open 100m. Scott took 7th with her time of 12.68.
Sophomore Sally Paul led the charge in the field events on Saturday. After scoring in the javelin throw on Friday, Paul took 5th place in the triple jump with a lifetime best leap of 10.77m (35'4"). Not far behind was freshman Grace Perrenoud. Perrenoud jumped 10.72m (35'2") to place 6th.

"I'm so proud of the hard work, love, and support that our women have shown throughout this year," says Rock. "It has been an incredible ride this year and especially with our senior class. Lydia Hatton, AddieKay Johnson, Laura Luttio, Amy Reimer, and Kelly Segura have been unbelievable for our program over the last four years."
Although the majority of the Royals have finished up their 2019 season, a handful will continue on to the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio on May 23-25. The NCAA will select the top 22 individual performers and top 16 relays across Division III to participate. As of this article's publication, Delia Labatt is ranked 7th in the 400m and the 4x400m relay team is ranked 4th. Follow the Royals as they continue their championship season over the next two weeks!
