NCAA Honors Annika Halverson at Woman of the Year Banquet

Annika Halverson is one of the most decorated student-athletes in Bethel's history. She is also the first Royal to be honored as one of the NCAA's Woman of the Year Top 30 award winners. Halverson, along with Head Track and Field Coach Andrew Rock, traveled to Indianapolis to be a part of the award ceremony.

"This weekend was a fitting way for Annika to be honored in all she has done to represent Bethel and our programs," says Rock. " She was extremely successful as a student-athlete and also chose to serve those around her in a big way. For her to be recognized by the NCAA for all she has done is well-derserved and truly remarkable." Halverson is a two-time All-American in cross country, a two-time national championship qualifier in track and field, and was selected to multiple All-American Academic teams throughout her career at Bethel. She also graduated with a 3.95 cumulative GPA.

Annika Halverson had an opportunity to reflect on this award and the path that brought her so far. "I'm truly honored and humbled to be included in this incredible pool of women," says Halverson. "To me, the award reflects the countless blessings in my life. My accomplishments only came to fruition through my relationships with my coaches, professors, teammates, family and friends. I am ever grateful to the village who raised me and the women who paved the path of opportunity before me." She also made sure to soak up the memorable weekend ."The WOTY weekend cannot compare to anything I've ever experienced. In the span of 48 hours we (the WOTY nominees) cultivated genuine friendships that I expect to last a lifetime. My heart is full from soaking in the powerful stories behind these inspirational women. Again, I am truly honored and humbled to be in this circle of women."
