Box Score 4 Spring break 2017 has begun for Bethel University sport teams, as many teams have made their way to warmer climates for the week off of school. Throughout the nine-day period, we'll try to keep you up-to-date on all the happenings of each team traveling for spring break. Baseball
The Bethel University baseball team picked up a pair of wins Saturday after sweeping Lasell College by a final score of 14-1 and 9-2.
Michael Wesner had a memorable day, as the junior transfer posted a cycle throughout both games. Wesner finished 5-for-7 with one home run, two triples, one double, and one single—boosting his season slugging percentage to .800. Bret Neuville ended the day 4-for-8 with two doubles, one home run, one run scored, and five RBI. Meanwhile,
Austin Ledin went 2-for-4 with one walk, one home run, two RBI, and one run scored.
Michael Bohlke improved to 2-1 on the season after allowing one run in 5.2 innings pitched of game one. Bohlke surrendered seven hits, but recorded five strikeouts and zero walks.
Houston Droel also improved to 2-1 overall after going 4.1 innings at the start of game two. Droel surrendered five hits and two walks, while striking out five.
The Royals closeout their spring break trip with a nine-inning contest against Carroll University Sunday morning at 9 a.m. (ET).
Men's and Women's Track and Field (Results)
The Bethel University track and field team enjoyed the 2017 Ross & Sharon Irwin Collegiate Scoring Meet hosted at Point Loma University Saturday afternoon. The top performers throughout the meet included
Hanna Frekot, BU's women's 4x100-meter relay,
Annika Halverson,
David Huffman,
Connor Haugen, and
Amanda Passaglia.
Hanna Frekot set a personal best mark of 18-5 (5.61 meters) in the long jump, which ranks No. 2 in school history. Bethel's 4x1, comprised of
Jillian Krier,
AddieKay Johnson,
Hanna Frekot, and
Delia Labatt ran a time of 48.16, which is fourth-best in school history.
Annika Halverson,
David Huffman,
Connor Haugen, and
Amanda Passaglia also set a new PR's in their respective events. Halverson crossed the finish line in 2:16.60 in the women's 800-meter run, while Huffman and Haugen ran 1:57.75 and 1:58, respectively, in the same event. Passaglia posted her PR in the discuss throw, reaching 122-6 (37.34 meters) in the event.

The Bethel University men's and women's golf team as well as the tennis and softball teams each travelled back home Saturday.
