RESULTS
SARTELL, Minn.--Bethel University's women's golf team had an exceptional start to the 2016 season, as the Royals put forth an incredible effort at the opening event hosted by Saint Benedict at Blackberry Ridge Golf Course. BU fired a 328 on the first day and lowered their score with a 320 on Sunday, which secured third place over a strong charge from St. Catherine on day two. Their two-day total of 648 finished just four strokes back of St. Thomas, who took second with a tally of 644.
Abby Perrenoud gave Bethel a huge lift by shooting a 78 on the "last first day" of her college career. She followed that up with an 84 Sunday to finish with a total of 162.
Leah Swanson and
Christine Piwnica each lowered their score on Sunday, as Swanson carded a 75 and Piwnica a 76 on the final day of play. Piwnica's 76 gave her a two-day total of 155, which placed her third among all 75 competitors. Swanson closed out the CSB invite with a score of 160, which placed her in a tie for eighth.
Hannah Williams rounded out Bethel's scoring on both days with an 86 on Saturday followed by an 85 on Sunday.
Kalyn Root finished with a final score of 183.
Among all individuals competing, Bethel finished No. 1 and 2, as
Kayla Ruf shot an 87 Saturday and an 82 Sunday for a two-day score of 169.
Kirsten Olson was right behind with a 173.
