LAS VEGAS—The Bethel University women's basketball team had a thrilling week in Las Vegas, Nevada, as the Royals (5-5, 2-2 MIAC) split a pair of nonconference games against two teams that competed in the NCAA Tournament one year ago. BU topped Millsaps in the opener on Sunday, December 27, before falling to No. 3-ranked George Fox Tuesday afternoon.
 
Bethel defeated Millsaps 69-52 behind Molly O'Toole's 23-point and eight-rebound performance. O'Toole finished 10-of-13 from the floor and 2-of-3 from the free throw line. The Royals shot 43.6 percent from the floor opposed to the Majors, who finished shooting under 30 percent during the 40 minutes of play. BU also outscored Millsaps 20-14 in points off of turnovers.
 
The Royals played with No. 3-ranked George Fox in the final three quarters, but the Bruins built a nine-point lead after the first frame and never looked back in the 84-71 result. George Fox went ahead 21-12 after one period of play, but outscored BU 63-59 in the final three quarters.
 
Kalli Zimmermann led the team in scoring with 24 points in 23 minutes played. Zimmermann finished 5-of-11 from the floor and an incredible 14-of-18 from the free throw line. The Champlin, Minnesota native added six boards and two steals to her final stat line. Molly O'Toole added 16 points and nine rebounds, while Rachel Parupsky poured in five points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and swatted three blocks.
 
Bethel returns to action Monday, January 4, when they host the University of Northwestern-St. Paul in the Robertson Center Gym at 7 p.m.
