Box Score MINNEAPOLIS – The Bethel University men's soccer team ran up a big 5-0 victory in downtown Minneapolis against the North Central University Rams on Tuesday afternoon. On a picturesque fall day the Royals traveled to the heart of the city to take on the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) member Rams, who had their seven-game unbeaten streak snapped by Bethel. Bethel dominated from the start as they scored three first half goals and tacked on two more in the second half in the final non-conference action of the season for the Royals.
Danny Jaderholm scored a pair of goals for Bethel sandwiched around one goal each from the Gronseth brothers, Stephen and Joey. Jaderholm's first score came in the 25th minute with an assist from
Stephen Gronseth.
Joey Gronseth then scored for Bethel at 33:59 on a diving header off a
Ryan Ness free kick. Big brother Stephen then scored his second goal of the year less than four minutes later with the assist from
Abner Arias-Olson. Jaderholm's second goal came in the second period at 61:42 to stretch the lead to 4-0.
Luke Chase assisted Jaderholm. The Gronseth brothers were not done yet either for Bethel, as Joey notched his second goal of the game with just under two minutes remaining in the contest with an assist from
Tim Ness for the 5-0 final score. Bethel outshot NCU 35-3 in the game including 19-2 in shots on goal. The Royals defense did not allow a single shot from the Rams in the second half.
Sam Asfahl and
Colton Syler each played a half in net for Bethel with Asfahl making a pair of saves.
Bethel has now won four of their last six contests and improved to 5-8-2 overall on the season with the victory Tuesday. The Royals will return to MIAC play Saturday afternoon when they host Concordia College at 1 p.m..
