Bethel University Hires Three Assistants in Men's Hockey

ARDEN HILLS, Minn.—Bethel University's head men's hockey coach, Charlie Burggraf, announced today the new staff for the 2014-15 season. Burggraf will welcome three new assistants, including Dan Bjornlie, Tim Fisher, and Thomas Stumpf.

Former Wisconsin Badger and 13-year professional, Dan Bjornlie will coach the Royals defensemen. Bjornlie played for the Badgers from 1996-2000 and was an assistant captain his senior season and also a part of Wisconsin's 1998 National Championship team. He then went on to play two seasons professionally with Quad Cities in the UHL before playing overseas in Germany and Austria for 11 seasons. 

Fisher, has been a goaltenders coach since 2009, both at the high school level with the Irondale Knights and in a training venue with Premier Goaltender Development (PDG). A former collegiate player with the University of St. Thomas, Fisher was an All-Conference player for Mahtomedi and helped the Zephyrs reach the Minnesota State High School Class A Tournament. 

Stumpf, who will be both the forwards coach and the recruiting coordinator, was most recently a five-year assistant with the St. Olaf women's team. Moreover, Stumpf has coached at Woodbury/East Ridge, the St. Paul Blades, North St. Paul, and Hill-Murray. Stumpf has also had experience with numerous club teams around the metro. 

Bethel's men's hockey squad will open its 2014-15 season on October 31 and November 1 at the annual MIAC Showcase, which was relocated to the National Sports Center in Blaine, Minn. this upcoming year.
