Results

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Bethel University women's tennis team broke out in a big way Tuesday afternoon with a 9-0 victory over Hamline University. The Royals swept all three doubles matches by the same 8-2 score while only one singles match went more than two sets. The victory was Bethel's first in MIAC play this season.

"It was really nice to get a win and in dominating fashion from top to bottom," said Royals head coach Drew Fernelius. "We made it our goal to win the last three matches and we got the first one."

The Royals carried the momentum of the solid doubles play right into the singles matches as No. 1 singles player Abby Edin was the first Royal to claim individual victory. Edin won 6-1, 6-3 and was closely followed up by No. 4 singles player Abby Kreklau who gave Bethel their fifth point. Kreklau came out on top 6-3, 6-1. At No. 2 singles Kristin Vivian won 6-2, 6-3 while Amanda Johnson won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3 singles. Also winning in convincing fashion was No. 5 singles player, Kourtney Jakubic, 6-1, 6-2. Larissa Voss showed great determination in her No. 6 singles match as she fell 4-6 in the first set but recovered to win the second set 6-2 and the tie break 10-6 to seal the 9-0 sweep.
