ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The Bethel University men's soccer team improved their record to 2-1 on Saturday with a 4-1 win over the Eagles of Northwestern at Ona Orth Athletic Complex on Bethel's Campus. The Royals exploded for 4 goals in the first half, a lead that proved to be more than enough for Bethel's stout defense.
"It was a very fun game for us today," said Royals head coach
Jeremy Iwaszkowiec. "Our intensity and focus in the first half was phenomenal. We lapsed a bit in the second half and we continue to learn lessons every game. Overall I was very pleased with the effort and result today."
It didn't take long for the scoring to begin, as Bethel's
Luke Chase put in a diving header just two minutes into the contest after a pinpoint cross
Danny Jaderholm. Just five minutes later Pisarski picked up a loose ball in front of the net and scored. Sophomore
Ryan Ness also nailed home a cross from Pisarski at the 30:00 mark in the first half.
Pisarski's second goal came just a few minutes later from
Stephen Gronseth to put the Royals up 4-0. Northwestern came out of halftime hot, scoring just 26 seconds into the second period but Bethel settled down and cruised to the 4-1 victory.
Pisarski finished with 2 goals and an assist, while freshman
Danny Jaderholm assisted on 3 of Bethel's scores.
"I would like to give a big thank you to the supporters today," coach Iwaszkowiec said. "I thought we had a great crowd and appreciated the support!"
The Royals do not play again until next weekend when the 4
th ranked Wheaton College Thunder come to town. Kickoff is at 4pm at Ona Orth Athletic Complex.
