NORTHFIELD, Minn.—49 kills and 62 digs proved to be critical for Bethel University's volleyball team Friday evening, as the Royals ended their season on a high note with a 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-22) victory over St. Olaf.
Carlee Hoppe and
Nicole Ackatz each finished with double-digit kills and
Ashlyn Hucky went for 31 assists to help BU improve to 14-15 (5-6 MIAC) on the season.

Hoppe ended the match with 17 kills on 42 attempts (.238) and 11 digs—her 14th double-double of the season. Meanwhile, teammate
Nicole Ackatz ended her career with a 15-kill performance on 37 swings (.378)—earning 15.5 points on the evening.
Freshman setter,
Ashlyn Hucky, spouted off 31 assists throughout the contest—ahead of
Katie Lubben, who finished with 10.
Kali Johnson led the Royals with 23 digs, followed by Hoppe.

Bethel's success came from early leads in each game. Leading 15-10 in the opening frame, the Royals held on to its margin down the stretch to top the hosting Oles 25-22. A 13-5 run in the second propelled BU to an eventual 25-23 win, followed by a 25-22 conquest in the third and final set.

The Royals 2013 season comes to a close after Friday evening's MIAC matchup in Northfield. Bethel won five of their last seven matches, but it wasn't enough to advance to the conference playoffs, as BU fell one match shy of its third consecutive postseason appearance.
