Royals Hang On For 3-2 Win at Concordia

Bethel built a 3-0 lead and saw the Cobbers score twice in the final minutes to draw within one

MOORHEAD, Minn. - The Bethel University men's soccer team hung on to a big Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) win on the road Tuesday afternoon with a 3-2 win over Concordia College. The Royals traveled up Interstate 94 to rain soaked northwestern Minnesota and jumped out to a 3-0 lead before the Cobbers scored two goals within 34 seconds of each other in the final minutes of play. Matthew Pisarski, Danny Jaderholm, and Isaac Druvenga scored for Bethel.
 
Pisarski got the Royals on the board early in the first period with a goal just 8:32 into the game. The shot came from the right side, about eight yards out and was assisted by senior Kolten Fischer.  The 1-0 advantage held going into the half. Jaderholm scored his goal 12 minutes into the second half and Druvenga added another insurance goal with 10 minutes remaining that proved to be huge. Luke Chase assisted on Druvenga's tally. The Cobbers put a scare into the Royals when they scored twice within 34 seconds of each other to draw within one with two minutes remaining. The Royals were able to keep the Cobbers from threatening for the third time however and hung on to their second MIAC victory.
 
The Royals will complete the final leg of their incredible four game road trip on Saturday as they make the trek to southeastern Minnesota to take on Saint Mary's University. Trips to Saint John's (Collegeville, Minn.), Wartburg (Waverly, Iowa), Concordia (Moorhead, Minn.) and Saint Mary's (Winona, Minn.) over the course of one week's time will rack up over 1,157 miles on the road.
