Slow Shooting Start Leads to 63-39 Loss to Concordia

Royals fall to Cobbers at home

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – Layups weren't falling for the Royals in Wednesday evenings 39-63 loss to Concordia College, which as a conclusion put Bethel playing from behind throughout the majority of the contest. With the game tied at 14-14 with 9:06 left in the first half, missed opportunities for Bethel (2-12, 1-10 MIAC) allowed the Cobbers (10-4, 9-2 MIAC) to end the half on a 15-2 run.
 
Playing from behind the rest of the second half, Bethel continued to fire up long-range shots and finished the game 5-of-18 (27.8 percent) from downtown. Conversely, Concordia finished the game shooting 39.1 percent with a 3-point mark of 54.5 (6-of-11).
 
Rachel Parupsky (Fr., Arden Hills, Minn.) finished the game as Bethel's only scorer in double figures. The Arden Hills, Minn., native completed 4-of-9 shots for 10 points, alongside seven boards and seven blocks. Lexi Freisen (Fr., Osage, Iowa) finished the game with eight points and four rebounds, while Megan Brodeur (Fr., Andover, Minn.) and Hannah Niewald (Fr., Fridley, Minn.) each had five boards.
 
Bethel finished Wednesday's showcase with 16 points in the paint and an 8-of-10 shooting performance from the foul line. Concordia took advantage of a 10-0 difference on fast-break points and a 12-6 lead in second-chance points.
 
The Royals will be back in action Saturday, as they play Macalester College in St. Paul at 1 p.m. The Scots are 4-9 in regular season play with a 3-7 record against league opponents.
