Box Score SAN ANTONIO – Bethel University's women's basketball finished the 2012 calendar year with its first win of the season after a 67-63 win over Hardin-Simmons in the Trinity University Classic in San Antonio, Texas. The Royals (1-7) jumped out to an early 36-31 lead against the Cowgirls (5-7) in Sunday's finale, and held off a second-half comeback to capture the four-point victory.
BU finished the competition shooting 35 percent on 20-of-56 shooting, but completed 74.1 percent (20-of-27) from the charity stripe, which proved to be enough down the stretch.
Rachel Parupsky continued to lead the Royals with a dominant day in the paint, finishing with 17 points and 12 rebounds—the freshman's second double-double in as many days and fourth of the season. The Arden Hills, Minn. native went 6-of-9 from the floor and gathered seven offensive rebounds, while blocking another six shots—continuing her 5.0 blocks per game average in check.

Sydney Schultz was Bethel's second leading scorer with 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting in 22 minutes of play.
Micaella Petrich also came back to the floor fir the first time after missing the first seven games due to injury and played 20 minutes—tallying five boards, four assists, and two points.
Katelyn Vavra followed up yesterday's stellar performance with another double-digit effort, scoring 10 points, boarding three rebounds, dishing two assists, and swiping two steals.
The Royals return home with new life after the win Sunday. BU will take on Saint Benedict in St. Joseph, Minn. Wednesday night as conference play resumes, before hosting St. Olaf Saturday at the Robertson Center Gym at 1 p.m.
