Bethel Allows Comeback to Knights in 57-60 Loss

Royals still looking for first win in 2012-13 season

Box Score

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – A seven-point lead midway through the second half wasn't enough to closeout Carleton College Saturday afternoon, as Bethel fell on the road 57-60. The Knights (2-2, 2-0 MIAC) trailed for the majority of the first 30 minutes, but a 25-7 run in the game's final 10 minutes kept the Royals (0-3, 0-2 MIAC) on the search for its first win of the 2012 season.

Rachel Parupsky (Fr., Arden Hills, Minn.) continues to lead the Bethel squad, as the freshman recorded her first collegiate double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Parupsky completed 6-of-12 shots and even hauled down six offensive rebounds in 37 minutes played. Katelyn Vavra (Jr., Askov, Minn.) also contributed 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting, which included 3-of-5 from downtown. The two-guard grabbed a total of seven rebounds as well.

Kelly Swenson also recorded double figures, scoring 11 points in her 33 minutes played.

As a team, Bethel outshot and outrebounded the Knights—completing 40.4 percent of its attempted shots, opposed to Carleton's 37.5.  The Royals held Carleton to 3-of-12 shooting from beyond the 3-point arc, while completing 4-of-11 of its own. One of BU's struggles came at the charity stripe, making just 11-of-20 free throw attempts. Bethel also was outscored on second-chance points 14-8.

Carleton's Akemi Arzouman joined the Knight's 1,000-point club in the contest, finishing with 13 points in the game.

The Royals will face Augsburg College Monday night in Minneapolis, where the two opponents will tip off at 7:30 p.m. in Si Melby Hall. Live stats and webcasts will be available here.
