BOX SCORE

ST. PETER, Minn. -
The 2010-11 Bethel women's basketball season came to a close tonight in St. Peter as Gustavus bested the Royals 67-63 in the quarterfinal round of the MIAC playoffs. Junior Taylor Sheley rose to the occasion with monster night, putting up 25-points to lead the Royals offense. Bethel made an impressive run in the second half to come as many as 12-points down to tie the game at 58 with just over 2 minutes to play, but it was not enough to overcome the Gusties who will advance to the conference semifinal facing St. Thomas on Thursday.

It was clear the Royals showed up to play as though forced the Gusties to fight for every point in the first half. Holding Gustavus's leading scorers Molly Geske, and Molly Mathoweitz to only 6 points a piece. At the half the Royals faced a 32-23 deficit but continued to play with poise and intensity.

Despite only scoring 4 points in the first half Taylor Sheley came back to put up 21 points in the second half to finish the night with 25 points, 5 turnovers, and 3 steals. Shana Grejtak, and Scotti Moats each finished with 14 points. Moats also grabbed 9 rebounds, just 1 short of a double double.

The Royals finish the season with an overall record of 15-11, while going 13-9 in the MIAC to finish the year as the 5th team in the conference. This playoff appearance also marks the 3rd time in 6 years that the Royals have competed in post-season play as part of the MIAC playoffs.
