BOX SCORE
ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – Closing out the regular season of the 2010-11 year, the Bethel Royals dismantled the Macalester College Scots with a 49-45 victory. With the win, the Royals now carry a 4-game winning streak into the MIAC play-offs, where Bethel will be taking on Gustavus Adolphus College in the first round Tuesday.
The first half of play remained fairly close and low scoring, with both teams exchanging blows on the hardwood. At the end of the first, the Royals carried a 22-16 lead into the locker room.
Macalester gave a sporting effort in the second, as they came back from their early deficit to put pressure on the Royals. Thankfully, Bethel responded by taking the lead once again and carrying it all the way to the final buzzer. At the end of regulation, Bethel claimed a 49-45 victory.
Scotti Moats (So., Waconia, Minn.) mopped up the Scots on the maple today by leading all scorers with 19 points. Moats also collected 9 rebounds and was an exceptional 8-9 from the charity stripe, as the Royals were a combined 20-22 from the free throw line. By making their throws, and having
Shana Grejtak (Sr., Franklin, Minn.) and
Taylor Sheley (Jr., Backus, Minn.) both score in double-figures with 13 and 11 points respectfully, the Royals went on to defeat the Macalester squad.
Bethel now switches their gaze to the Gustavus Adolphus College Gusties, with whom they will be taking on Tuesday in St. Peter, Minnesota.
