Royals Win Third Game in a Row

Sheley's put the Royals up by 3 in the final seconds to seal the victory

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Royals won their third consecutive game on Monday night as the returned to conference play. The Royals traveled down the road to face St. Catherine's and came away with the win 59-58.

This game was close the whole way. While the Wildcats lead the majority of the first half and the Royals lead the majority of the 2nd most of the game there was less than a 5-point spread in score. The Wildcats largest lead was in the first half when they led by 11. In the second half the Royals had their largest lead separating themselves by 8.

With just under a minute and 30 second to play the Royals were up by 7, but the Wildcats would not go quietly as they brought the score to within 1-point with 11 seconds left to play. With 9 seconds to go Taylor Sheley was fouled and drained both her free-throw shots to put the Royals back up by 3. The Wildcats would score again with only 1 second left on the clock to finish the game down 1 59-58.

Sheley was also the leading scorer for Bethel as she totaled 23-points on the night along with 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 5 steals. Sophomore Scottie Moats had 17-points, and 8 rebounds.

With the win the Royals improve to 4-4 overall and 2-3 in the MIAC. The Royals will be back in action on Wednesday night at Robertson Center when they host Hamiline University. Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m.
