BOX SCORE
ARDEN HILLS, Minn. - Coming off a loss to St. Olaf College on Monday night, the Bethel Women's basketball team tried to rebound against the Gustavus Adolphus Gusties tonight. Attempting to kick start another winning streak the Royals fought hard but unfortunately fell to a tough MIAC squad 77-64.
Coming out in the first half, the Royals looked sharp within the first five minutes matching point-for-point with the Gusties. With the score 18-16 in favor of Gustavus, the Royals offense went into a drought where they couldn't muster up any points, thus leading to a 13-0 Gustie run. Despite the 15 point differential, the Bethel ladies fought back and brought the game to 41-34 score at halftime. In the first half,
Taylor Sheley (Jr., Backus, Minn.) had 12 points, which led the Royals in scoring.
Scotti Moats (So., Waconia, Minn.) also appeared on the way to another double-double performance collecting 10 points and 7 rebounds in the first.
Trying to reclaim the lead, the Royals entered the second half with high hopes of knocking off a top-notch MIAC team. Bethel could never click on all cylinders in the second and had a rough go defending the Gustie attack. Some questionable officiating led to
Scotti Moats fouling out with significant time remaining in second. Despite Moats fouling out, she still finished with a nice evening of 14 points and 8 rebounds. Upon her removal from the game,
Shana Grejtak (Sr., Franklin, Minn.) stepped her game up by dropping 12 points in the second. Grejtak would lead the Royals on the evening with 19 points. Sheley would go on to collect 18 points as well.
The loss now moves the Royals to 8-6 on the season with a 6-5 MIAC record. Up next for the Royals is Macalester College, with whom they take on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in St. Paul, Minnesota.
