CLERMONT, Fla.
- Bethel shook off losses to Bowdoin and Indiana Tech to finish the day on a winning note against Saint Michael's, thus giving Rod Radcliffe his 100th win as head coach of the Royals.

Against Bowdoin (Maine), the Royals rebounded from a two-run deficit in the bottom of the second to score three runs in the top of the third on a bases loaded walk to Lauren Habisch (Sr., Lakeville, Minn.), followed by a two-RBI single by Ashley Johnsen (Sr., Maple Grove, Minn.).

However, Bowdoin struck back with three runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth inning, and the Royals were unable to overcome the Polar Bears, despite scoring a run in the top of the seventh inning. Bethel had a chance to tie the game, but Lisa Patnode (Sr., Princeton, Minn.) was thrown out at the plate, thus ending the game at 5-4.

Bethel then went on to play Indiana Tech, traditionally one of the better teams in NAIA competition. The Royals fell behind 3-0 in the top of the first inning, but came back with a run in the bottom of the inning when Rachel Gilbert (Fr., Becker, Minn.) led off with her first collegiate home run. Unfortunately, the Warriors continued to add to their lead by scoring once in the top of the second, and five more times between the fifth and sixth innings. Berg led off the third inning with a double and scored on a ground ball by Johnsen, but that would be all the Royals would get in a 9-2 loss.

Finallly, the Royals finished off their long day with an 8-4 win over Saint Michael's College (Vt.). Bethel scored seven runs in the first three innings to take a commanding lead and held on to defeat the Purple Knights, allowing Radcliffe to earn his 100th win. Gilbert, Patnode, and Rebecca Buhr (So., Detroit Lakes, Minn.) each hit 3-for-4 as the Royals racked up 13 hits in the nightcap. Both Berg and Patnode had two RBI, while four others each knocked in one run each.

Rebecca Akerson (Jr., Lakeville, Minn.) won her fifth game of the trip by pitching another complete game, allowing four runs on 10 hits in her seven innings of work.

Bethel finished the day with an 8-6 overall record with just two more games left to play before returning to Minnesota. The Royals are scheduled to take on Babson (MA), as well as nationally ranked UW-Whitewater.
