ST. PAUL, Minn.
- Despite playing a much better second half than the first, the damage had already been done as the Royals fell to the hosting University of St. Thomas Tommies 75-57 tonight.

The game started to slip away from Bethel midway through the first half when St. Thomas went on 9-0 run to go up by 11, and the Tommies used an 8-0 run just before the end of the half to push that lead to 17. In the second half, Bethel made some adjustments, primarily on offense, and took better care of the ball, but was unable to narrow the deficit in the loss.

Scotti Moats (Fr., Waconia, Minn.) scored 16 points and was an impressive 6-for-7 from the free throw line to lead the Royals in scoring. Kristen Wolters (Sr., St. Cloud, Minn.) scored 12 points, all off of three-pointers, as the only other Royal to finish in double figures. Moats, Shana Grejtak (Jr., Franklin, Minn.) and Taylor Sheley (So., Backus, Minn.) all pulled down five rebounds in the effort.

Rachel Booth led the Tommies with 14 points and had six blocked shots. However, the St. Thomas center also committed five turnovers.

The loss drops Bethel down to 9-13 overall and 8-11 in the MIAC heading into Saturday's 1 p.m. game against conference leading Gustavus. St. Thomas improves to 17-5 overall and 14-5 in conference play.
