ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The Bethel Royals Volleyball team extended there win streak to three games on Wednesday evening when they defeated Macalester College 3-0 at the Robertson Center.
The Royals fired out of the gates in the first set dominating play. They carried a ten-point lead throughout much of the set until they won by a score of 25-12.
It was much of the same during the second set as the Royals pounded the Scots by a score of 25-16 to advance into the third set.
Macalester gave Bethel all it could handle in the third as the Scots took their lead late into the set. With the Royals chances to finish off the Scots dwindling, Bethel strung together a series of points to tie the game at 24. In a back and forth affair, the Royals eventually held on to take the third and final set 28-26 and the match.
Caitie Helle (So., Onamia, Minn.) led the Royals with 17 kills in the match as her stellar performance help propel them to a victory.
Kate Smith (Jr., Arden Hills, Minn.) also contributed 10 kills while adding 11 assists.
Betsy Naatjes (Sr., Sioux Falls, Minn.) finished the evening with a whopping 28 assists. Valerie Smith (So., Alexandria, Minn.) finished the match with 15 digs.
With the victory, the Royals move to 4-4 in the MIAC and 12-12 overall. Bethel will put their 3-game win streak to the test this weekend as they compete in the Northwestern Tri Tournament at Northwestern College. The Royals will take on Martin Luther College on Friday night at 6 p.m.
