DECORAH, Iowa - In a physical match where seven cards were given and one player was ejected, the Bethel University Royals were unable to hold off the Luther College Norse, falling 3-0.

The teams played the first 74 minutes without a goal being scored but it was not without incident. Six cards were issued before anyone found the net, and in the 48th minute, Luther's Alan Bedell, was sent off after receiving a red card. The defensive stalemate was broken in the 75th minute, when Luther's Austin Walther scored, with the assist going James Laroque. Only 50 seconds later, Luther tallied another goal, again assisted by Laroque. The Norse's third and final goal was scored in the 89th minute.

Andreas Scott (Jr., Cedar, Minn.) led Bethel with five shots, two on goal, and Michael Voigtlander (Jr., Vadnais Heights, Minn.) added two shots of his own. Goaltender Nick Kantor (Sr., Buffalo, Minn.) made two saves for the Royals.

Laroque led Luther with a goal and two assists.

Each team was able to put five shots on goal and received four corner kicks. The Royals kept up with Luther's physical attack, but were unable to muster enough chances to come away with the victory.

After the loss, Bethel now has a record of 5-2 (1-0) and Luther improves to 2-3-1. Next, the Royals travel to Hamline University, facing the Pipers this Wednesday, beginning at 4 p.m.
