Box Score

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn.
- In a back-and-forth game, with both sides getting plenty of shots and scoring chances, the Royals and St. John's played to a 110 minute stalemate, thanks to a Bethel-friendly goalpost, tying 1-1.

The first half saw both sides put two shots on goal, take three corner kicks, and receive three fouls each. In such an even half, the score followed suit, tied 0-0, with neither team finding a way past the goaltenders. Bethel seemed to garner a little bit of momentum as the second half got underway, getting five shots in under 10 minutes. The sixth shot in the 53rd minute was the charm, as that's when Gregory LeVere (Jr., Fort Worth, Texas) took a pass from Zach Hurd (Jr., Portage, Mich.) and helped the Royals strike first. The goal was his second of the year, with the assist being Hurd's second.

The goal would not be enough for Bethel, as the Johnnie's fought back in the 72nd minute, Shane Thuleen scoring his first goal of the year, assisted by Paul Keane. From there, the goalies and defenses shut down the offensive attacks of each time. However, the overtimes contained plenty of action. The Royals took six shots, two on goal, in the two overtimes, as opposed to St. John's three, one on goal. However, with only three seconds left in the second overtime, St. John's Colin Hall found an opening, but could not find the back of the net, hitting the post on the last shot of the game.

Bethel took a total of 26 shots for the game, 10 on goal, and the Johnnie's managed 21 total shots, eight of them on goal. The Royals attempted nine corner kicks to St. John's three, and the fouls were nine to six, respectively. Andreas Scott (Jr., Cedar, Minn.) led Bethel with 10 total shots, four on goal, and Nick Kantor (Sr., Buffalo, Minn.) made seven saves. Austin Neuburger led the Johnnie's with two shots on goal and Luke Nelson came up with nine saves.

After today's game, Bethel is now 8-4-2 (4-2-2) and St. John's is 5-6-2 (1-4-1). The Royals play their next game versus Simpson College this coming Monday. The match will be at home, beginning at 3:30 p.m., at the Ona Orth Complex.
