NORTHFIELD, MINN.—The Bethel University men's cross country team opened their season at the St. Olaf Ole Invitational on Friday, where they took third place out of five teams with 73 points. Macalester won the team title with 34 points. John Ihrke (15:57.2) won the individual title with a 15:57.2. The meet took place on the campus of St. Olaf.
Hootie Hage commanded the Royals with a third-place time of 16:09.7. Next was Max Meissner, who crossed the finish line at 16:13.3 en route to fourth place. Weston Catton notched a 17th-place time of 16:34.7, followed by TJ Strubbe in 26th place with a 16:41.4. Andrew Tscholl's 17:10.1 put him in 36th place, while Mavrik Plummer and Charlie Gundale deadlocked at 17:20.3 to round out the top seven Royals.
Sam Gaines (17:25.7), Victor Lelinga (17:26.2), Gavin Hansen (17:28.2), Aiden Reuter (17:30.1), Weston Rolf (17:31.0), Michael Schultz (17:53.9), Micah Barberg (18:27.3), Ethan Heeg (18:45.8), Ethan Bowen (19:18.2), Mason Hays (19:27.4), Luke Segura (20:27.4), Nolan Wayman (21:01.2), Noah McDaniel (21:41.9), and Logan Hays (21:42.0) also competed for Bethel.
The Royals will compete at the Saint John's Toni St. Pierre Invite on Friday, September 18 at the River Oaks Golf Course in Cold Spring, Minnesota.
