LESUEUR, MINN.—The Bethel University men's golf team competed at the Gustavus Adolphus Bobby Krig Invitational on Saturday, April 18 - Sunday, April 19. The first round was held at the New Prague Golf Club, while rounds two and three were at the LeSueur Country Club.
The Royals finished the three-round event tied for second place with an 886 (+34). The host Gusties won the team title with an 871 (+19). Jack Berry (Augsburg) claimed the individual crown with a 215 (+2).
Zeke Roberts accumulated a three-round score of 217 (+4), which put him in a tie for third place. Roberts' game improved with each round after posting a 76 (+5) in round one, a 72 (+1) in round two, and a 69 (-2) in round three. He accumulated 11 birdies throughout the tournament, five of which occurred in a third round that included the par-three seventh hole.
Jesse Balc finished tied for fifth place with a 218 (+5). Balc also improved with each outing as he shot a 77 (+6) in round one, a 71 (E) in round two, and a 70 (-1) in round three. Balc also had 11 birdies throughout the three rounds, six of which occurred in the second round. He registered a birdie on the par-three 14th hole in round two.
Jacob Ferrin was tied for eighth place with a 220 (+7) after he notched a 73 (+2) in round one, a 72 (+1) in round two, and a 75 (+4) in round three. Ferrin had six birdies on the weekend, three of which were in round three.
Avery Ross's 334 (+21) that put him in a tie for 47th place included a 76 (+5) in the first round, a 77 (+6) in the second round, and an 81 (+10) in the third round. Ross's five-of-seven birdies on the weekend occurred in the second round.
Ben Mertz rounded out the Royals' team score with a 337 (+24) that consisted of an 82 (+11), 77 (+6), and 78 (+7).
The Royals B squad took seventh place with a 921 (+69). Ethan Hall (226, +13), Carson Hannestad (228, +15), Charlie Solberg (232, +19), Adam Wagner (235, +22), and Wyatt Peterson (254, +41) represented the B squad.
Parker Trobec (244, +31) competed as an individual.
The Royals will compete at the Saint John's Spring Invitational at the Wapicada Golf Course and Monticello Country Club on Saturday, April 25 - Sunday, April 26.
