Second-Half Push Falls Just Short at Carleton

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Bethel University men's soccer team battled through a one-goal deficit Wednesday afternoon but was unable to find the equalizer in a 1-0 MIAC road loss at Carleton College.

The Royals kept the match scoreless for nearly 39 minutes before Carleton broke through late in the opening half to take a 1-0 advantage.

Noah Oscarson helped keep Bethel within striking distance, making three saves in the first half as the Royals entered the break trailing by just one.

Bethel increased its offensive pressure after halftime, generating all three of its shots in the second half. The Royals put one attempt on goal and earned a corner kick while searching for the tying goal.

Oscarson and the Bethel defense kept the Knights off the scoreboard throughout the final 45 minutes. Oscarson added four more saves in the second half as the Royals remained within one through the final whistle.

Oscarson finished the afternoon with seven saves while allowing just one goal in 90 minutes of action.

Bethel finished with three shots and three corner kicks, while the Royals' defensive effort kept the match within reach despite Carleton generating 16 shots.

The setback moves Bethel to 3-8-1 overall and 0-3-1 in MIAC play.
