Reid Weckwerth netted 10 points in the Cardinals' 12-2 run at the beginning of the contest, which highlighted a first half that saw them lead for 11:49 of clock time. Their time in the driver's seat came to an end for good at the tail end of the opening half as Blake Schmitz converted a jumper and layup within the final :20 to give Bethel a 28-26 halftime lead.

The Royals didn't trail in a second half that saw Nick Burke score all 17 of his points on a 5-of-6 shooting clip, a 3-of-3 mark from three-point land, and 4-of-4 free throws. That, combined with a .586 (17-of-29) field goal percentage over the final 20:00, locked a 77-58 victory over the Cardinals.

Burke finished with 17 points, five boards and four assists. Next was Blake Schmitz's 14 points, four boards, and two assists. Sam Gingras chipped in 11 points and four rebounds, while Jack Charbonneau rounded out the double figure Royals with 10 points and seven rebounds.

Bethel finished .500 (11-of-22) from the three-point line, and .459 (28-of-61) from the field.

Weckwerth, who paced Saint Mary's with 17 points, was held to zero second-half points. The Cardinals finished .351 (20-of-57) from the field and .263 (5-of-19) from beyond the arch.

The Royals will travel to St. Olaf on Wednesday, February 4 for a 7 p.m. game.
