MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Bethel University women's soccer team secured their first win of the season in dominant fashion, defeating Concordia-Moorhead 4-1 on the road Saturday afternoon at the Jake Christiansen Athletic Complex.
The Royals (1-7-1, 1-2-0 MIAC) set the tone early, with Kendall Craigan opening the scoring in the 5th minute — her first goal of the season. Bethel continued their attacking pressure throughout the first half, and Malia Beilby found the back of the net in the 35th minute, assisted by Mia Backous, to give the Royals a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.
Bethel came out of the break strong, with Backous scoring just two minutes into the second half to extend the lead to 3-0. Though Concordia (0-5-3, 0-3-0 MIAC) pulled one back in the 49th minute with a goal by Kate Corradi, the Royals responded quickly. Beilby struck again in the 73rd minute to seal the game with her second of the match — bringing her season total to three goals.
Bethel outshot Concordia 20-14 (11-8 on goal) and led in corner kicks 9-8. Goalkeeper [Insert Goalkeeper's Name if Known] recorded 7 saves in the win. The Royals also played a clean game, committing just 11 fouls with no cautions.
