Late Goal Sinks Bethel Women’s Soccer in 1–0 Loss to St. Scholastica

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – Despite generating plenty of scoring opportunities, the Bethel University women's soccer team fell 1-0 at home to St. Scholastica on Wednesday afternoon at Ona Orth Athletic Complex. The Royals outshot the Saints 20-16 but couldn't find the back of the net in the MIAC matchup.

The decisive goal came in the 85th minute, when St. Scholastica's Julia Lewis broke the deadlock with her third goal of the season. The late strike gave the Saints (3-6-2, 1-2-1 MIAC) their first conference win.

Bethel (1-8-1, 1-3-0 MIAC) created chances throughout the match, especially in the first half, where they outshot the visitors 12-6. The Royals finished the game with 20 total shots — five on goal — but were denied repeatedly by solid defensive play and five saves from the CSS goalkeeper.

The Royals held a 3-2 edge in corner kicks and matched the Saints with five saves on the defensive end. The match was cleanly played, with no cautions issued to either side.

Looking to bounce back and get back in the win column, Bethel will stay home this weekend for another MIAC test.
