The Royals kicked off their 2025–26 season Friday at home with a hard-fought 2–2 tie against University of Northwestern St. Paul, showcasing resilience and determination in a thrilling back-and-forth battle.
Bethel struck first with Jessica Oliver finding the net in the 18th minute, giving the Royals an early boost. The team maintained pressure throughout the first half, looking confident on both ends of the field.
However, Northwestern pushed back in the second half, scoring two goals to take the lead and put Bethel on the back foot. The Eagles appeared to have control with just minutes left on the clock.
But the Royals weren't done yet. With less than 10 minutes remaining, Bethel mounted a spirited comeback. Malia Beilby orchestrated an impressive offensive push, delivering a precise assist to Natalie Daniels, who calmly finished in the 83rd minute to knot the game at 2–2.
Goalkeeper Abby Wright was a steady presence throughout, making several crucial saves to keep the Royals within striking distance and help set the stage for the late rally.
Bethel's fightback showed great character and energy, proving the team's readiness to battle hard all season long.
