Women’s Tennis Celebrates Senior Day with Dominant Win Over Macalester

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – April 23, 2025 — The Bethel University women's tennis team made Senior Day one to remember, shutting out Macalester College 9-0 at the Ona Orth Athletic Complex. The win moves the Royals to 13-3 overall and 8-1 in MIAC play, continuing their stellar season as postseason play approaches.

From start to finish, Bethel was in control. The Royals swept all three doubles matches, with Lauryn Douglas and Michaella Sullivan earning an 8-3 win at the No. 1 spot. Julia Baber and Emma Thole rolled to an 8-0 shutout at No. 2, and the tandem of Courtney DeWall (Nuest) and Payton Douglas mirrored that result at No. 3.

Bethel didn't drop a set in singles play. Senior Lauryn Douglas led the charge with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles, while fellow senior Michaella Sullivan took care of business 6-4, 6-1 at No. 2. The rest of the lineup followed suit, with Claire Keller, Julia Baber, Emma Thole, and Courtney DeWall (Nuest) all earning straight-set victories—Thole and DeWall both posting dominant 6-0, 6-0 scorelines.

With the win, Bethel remains in the thick of the MIAC title race. The Royals will close out the regular season at home against Gustavus on Saturday, April 26 at noon.

The MIAC playoffs will follow, and with their current momentum, Bethel will be a team to watch as they pursue a conference championship.
