Bethel Women’s Tennis Downs St. Olaf 7–2 in Key MIAC Clash

Arden Hills, Minn. — April 12, 2025
The Bethel University women's tennis team turned in a dominant performance on Saturday afternoon, defeating St. Olaf 7–2 at the Ona Orth Athletic Complex. The Royals, now 10–4 overall and 5–1 in MIAC play, showcased their depth and determination against a strong Oles squad that entered the match with just two losses.

Bethel set the tone early by taking two of three doubles matches. At the top spot, Michaella Sullivan and Lauryn Douglas cruised to an 8–3 win, while the #3 duo of Julia Baber and Elisabeth Langhus delivered a solid 8–6 victory. Though the Royals dropped a close match at #2 doubles, they entered singles play with a 2–1 lead.

The Royals dominated singles action, winning five of six matches in straight sets. Lauryn Douglas and Michaella Sullivan set the pace at the top of the lineup, both notching convincing victories over their opponents. Julia Baber and Emma Thole added wins at #4 and #5, respectively, while Courtney DeWall (Nuest) delivered a flawless 6–0, 6–0 sweep at the #6 position to close out the match. The only singles point for St. Olaf came at the #3 spot, where Fiona O'Flaherty took down Claire Keller in two sets.

With the win, Bethel remains in the thick of the MIAC postseason race and continues to build momentum heading into the final stretch of the regular season. They will face Hamline at home at 4pm on Wednesday, April 16.
