Spring Break Recap: March 9

The Royals went 3-0 on Sunday as Bethel baseball completed a comeback victory over Benedictine, 9-5. Bethel men's tennis followed that up with a 5-2 win over Transylvania while the women shutout the Pioneers 7-0.
 
BASEBALL: Bethel 9, Benedictine 5
The Eagles broke a scoreless tie in the fifth scoring on a Bethel error. Benedictine then put up four runs in the sixth to go up 5-0 on the Royals.
 
BU started its comeback efforts in the fourth with a four spot to get within one. Andrew Cardenas lone hit was a two-RBI triple before he scored on a double off the bat of Oran Hinkle.
 
The bats stayed hot with a five-run eighth inning. Joe Meurer laid down a bunt that caused a throwing error by the pitcher to bring in the tying run. Four batters later a wild pitch and a throwing error by the catcher from the backstop scored the go-ahead runs for the Royals.
 
Isaac Call drove in the final two runs with a double down the right-field line.
 
Benedictine put runners at the corners with two outs in the ninth before Aidan Nelson recorded a strikeout to end it.
 
MEN'S TENNIS: Bethel 5, Transy 2
BU went up 1-0 after taking all three doubles matches. The Royals then took four of the six singles matches with dropping the No. 4 and No. 5 matches.     
 
Dylan Magistad and Carter Sheard each extended their winning streak to four matches. Magistad at No. 2 won 6-4, 6-2 while C. Sheard at No. 1 won by the identical 6-4, 6-2 score.
 
WOMEN'S TENNIS: Bethel 7, Transy 0
No. 37th-ranked Bethel earned its fourth shutout victory of the season.
 
Emma Thole and Elisabeth Langhus squeaked out a win at No. 3 doubles 7-6 (7-5) for their seventh straight victory as a pair.
 
Lauryn Douglas battled to her fifth straight win at No. 1 taking it 7-5, 6-4.
