Women Lead MIAC Championships After Day 2

RESULTS

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. - The Royals are atop the team standings after day 2 of the MIAC Indoor Championships with 88 team points. Concordia-Moorhead is in 2nd with 57 points, and St. Benedict's is 3rd with 55 points.

Bethel racked up 21 points in the women's pentathlon on day 1, highlighted by a conference title from Elle Thorson (10 pts.). Ellie Hernes took 4th place (5 pts.), Ally Tyvoll was 6th (3 pts.), Hailey Scholten was 7th (2 pts.), and Hannah Moe was 8th (1 pt.).

The Royals scored big in several other events. Emily Pearson scored 8 points as she was the runner-up in the pole vault with her clearance of 3.46m / 11"4.25". Raina Kaping scored 6 points with her 3rd place finish, clearing the same height as Pearson.

Bethel scored 3 athletes in the 60H, totaling 14 team points. Freshman Hannah Bingham took 3rd place (6 pts.) with a time of 9.21 seconds, Elle Thorson was 4th (5 pts.) in 9.23 seconds, and Ellie Hernes was 6th (3 pts.) in 9.48 seconds. 

Thorson and Hernes continued their busy weekend by adding points in the long jump, along with Jordan Stanisloski. Hermes took 3rd (6 pts.) with a jump of 5.27m / 17'3.5", Stanisloski was 5th (4 pts.), and Thorson was 6th (3 pts.) as they both jumped 5.16m / 16'11.25".

Anna Speratos scored 8 points in the weight throw as she finished 2nd place with her best toss of 16.81m / 55'2".

The Royals earned 9 team points in the 400m dash. Sarah Stellmach took 5th (4 pts.) place in 58.59, Hailey Gregg was 6th (3 pts) in 59.32, and Abbie Swenson was 7th (2 pts.) in 59.83.

Shalom Sulungaine took 4th place (5 pts.) in the 800m, running 2:19.02. 

Freshman Ella Paulson adding to the scoring by qualifying for the 60m dash finals and placing 8th (1 pt.) with her time of 8.15 seconds. 

The distance medley relay team of Ruby Gernandt, Arissa Rydberg, Kiara Gentz, and Anna Cargill took 6th place (3 pts.) with their time of 13:00.83.
