Thorson Wins MIAC Pentathlon Title

RESULTS

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. - Elle Thorson became Bethel's first ever MIAC pentathlon champion, as the Royals racked up 21 team points on day 1 of the MIAC Indoor Championships. 

Thorson won the event with a program record 3,387 points:

  • 60H - 9.31 (846 points)
  • HJ - 1.61m / 5'3.25" (747 points)
  • SP - 11.17m / 36'7.75" (606 points)
  • LJ - 5.07m / 16'7.75" (578 points)
  • 800m - 2:36.79 (610 points)

Ellie Hernes had a terrific day, scoring 3,213 points and earning 4th place overall - the 3rd best score in program history. Ally Tyvoll scored 2,664 points for 6th place, Hailey Scholten scored 2,648 points for 7th place, and Hannah Moe scored 2,565 points for 8th place. 

Thorson is now ranked 12th in Division III while Hernes is ranked 24th.

Eli Leafblad lead Bethel's heptathletes on day 1 of competition. Leafblad scored 2,207 points placing himself 11th with 3 events to go. Aaron Elseth scored 2,189 points and currently sits in 12th place. 

The heptathlon will begin on Fridayday at 10:00 AM. The rest of the field events will begin at 4:00 PM on Friday and running events start at 4:30 PM. The full schedule can be found on the MIAC Championship website.
