DULUTH, Minn. — Sophomore guard
AJ Kaul dropped a career-high 30 points as the Bethel University men's basketball team loss 91-81 loss at St.Scholastica Wednesday night.
Kaul went 9-for-11 from beyond the arc with four rebounds and two assists.
Blake Schmitz went 8-for-15 from the field for a career-high 19 points while adding six boards.
Colter Stone dropped a season-high 15 points going 6-for-10 from the field.
Kaul nailed back-to-back threes to tie the game at 12 five minutes into the first half. Kaul drained another three to give the Royals their first lead of the game 15-14.
Stone hit from beyond the arc to give Bethel a 26-24 lead with 6:32 to play in the half. Bethel then went into the half down 41-33.
Stone drove the lane for a layup to bring the Royals back within five, 53-48. With 12:44 to play in the half Kaul hit another three to make it a 57-53 game.
Bethel pulled within three with 9:42 left but got no closer. After trailing by double digits four minutes later BU cut it to nine with a layup from
Nick Burke at the 3:11 mark but the Saints pulled away form there.
