ARDEN HILLS, Minn. — The Bethel University men's basketball team closed out its 2024-25 season Saturday afternoon, falling to no. 12 ranked Saint John's University 89-62.
Prior to the game Bethel honored senior
Caden Boettcher for his time and commitment to the program.
Adam Mattes dropped 16 points going 4-for-6 from three,
Nick Burke put up 14 points and
JT Schradle had 11 points off the bench.
The Johnnies took a 9-2 lead to open the game, before
Nick Burke hit from three to bring the Royals back to within four early in the first half.
Blake Schmitz knocked down a three to make it a 27-15 game midway through the first half.
With 4:39 to play in the first half,
Colter Stone hit a 15-foot jumper.
JT Schradle closed out the half with a three pointer as the Royals faded a 50-27 halftime deficit.
Boettcher came away with a steal that
Nick Burke turned into a fastbreak jumper at the other end to make it a 59-35 game.
AJ Kaul hit from beyond the arc to make it a 20 point game with 12:24 to play. The Johnnies went on to win by a final score of 89-62.
The Royals finish the 2024-2025 season with a record of 11-14 overall and 5-11 in MIAC play.
