All 14 of the game's lead changes occurred in a first half that ended with a 15-0 Simpson run. This included Cam Henderson's three-pointer that put Simpson in the driver's seat for good at 38-37 with 1:17 left in the opening frame. The Storm grew their lead as things progressed, as the 82-68 final score was also their largest cushion of the game.

Sam Gingras registered 15 points and three assists for a Royals squad that shot .429 (27-of-63) in the contest. Next was Blake Schmitz, who had 11 points and a team-leading six boards. Jack Charbonneau also had six rebounds as well as seven points. Bethel accumulated 28 bench points, which included 12 from Adam Mattes. All nine players who entered the game for the Royals contributed points.

The Storm were led by Cam Henderson's 21 points on 9-of-13 shooting, followed by Calix Cahill's double double 17 points and 10 boards. Simpson finished .493 (33-of-67) shooting in the contest.

Bethel will resume MIAC play at Gustavus Adolphus on Saturday, January 3 at 3 p.m.
