Albert Rundell Named One of Five Finalists For 2025 Gagliardi Trophy, Given To Division III's Top Football Player

ARDEN HILLS, MINN.—Bethel University junior wide receiver Albert Rundell has been named one-of-five finalists for the 2025 Gagliardi Trophy presented by Stearns Bank, given to the most outstanding player in NCAA Division III, on Thursday evening. Rundell wlll look to become Bethel's first Gagliardi Trophy recipient.

The 2025 Gagliardi Trophy winner will be revealed on D3football.com during the week of the 2025 NCAA Division III Football National Championship Game. D3football.com will provide updates on specific dates and times of the announcement. The national championship game will be played on Sunday, January 4 in Canton, Ohio.

The Gagliardi Trophy, given annually since 1993, is awarded to the most outstanding NCAA Division III football player and recognizes excellence in athletics, academics and community service. The award is named after John Gagliardi, Saint John's (Minn.) legendary Hall of Fame head football coach who retired in 2012, and passed away at the age of 91 in 2018. Gagliardi finished his career with 489 victories, the most in college football history. 

Rundell finished the 2025 season with a single-season school record 1587 receiving yards and 22 touchdown catches. His 1587 yards also led all levels of college football in 2025. The Watertown, Minnesota native ranks third nationally with 9.38 receptions per game (122 total) and has a MIAC-leading 124.08 all-purpose yards per game, 22 total touchdowns, and 10.2 points per game. 

Off the field, Rundell maintains a 3.81 cumulative GPA as a double major in business finance and analytics. He also volunteers as a local Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) huddle leader at a Minneapolis High School, where he mentors and guides young men throughout the year.
