November 2 MIAC Football Athletes of the Week
Offensive: David Geebli (Bethel)
Defensive: Fisher Ganske (Bethel)
Special Teams: Alec Mahoney (St. Olaf)
David Geebli
Prevailed with 144 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 21 carries, which consisted of a seven-yard run on a 4th-and-1 play at their own 32 yard line with 1:34 left in the contest, which sealed the deal in a 34-28 decision over the Cobbers at Royal Stadium on October 31. The Coon Rapids native's second-half touchdown runs occurred from nine, and 81 yards out.
Through eight starts, Geebli has 806 yards rushing on 107 carries. His whopping 7.5 yards per carry ranks eighth in NCAA Division III.
Fisher Ganske
Concordia went into their final offensive series in pursuit of a touchdown that would've gave them their first lead of a game, and the program's largest win in decades. Fisher Ganske put those dreams to the wayside on the fourth play from scrimmage that series. With Concordia at the 50 yard line, their quarterback Nick Walter heaved a pass down to the Bethel 10 yard line, where Ganske intercepted behind his shoulders. It gave the Royals the ball back for good at their own 10 yard line with 3:10 left in the fourth.
It took seven plays for Bethel to run the clock, which ended with Geebli's gutsy 4th-and-1 dive play the got him seven yards from Bethel's 32 yard line to their 39 with 1:34 left in the game. It gave Bethel a first down, and plenty of time to take two knees to seal the 34-28 win.
Ganske finished the game with two tackles, two pass breakups, and one interception.
The Royals will travel to Carleton on Saturday, November 7Â for a 12 p.m. start.
