ARDEN HILLS, Minn. — The Bethel University men's soccer team continued its strong stretch of play with an impressive 4–2 victory over Carleton College on Saturday afternoon at Ona Orth Athletic Complex. With the win, Bethel improves to 9–4-3 overall and 5–3-1 in MIAC play, keeping their postseason hopes alive as they near the end of regular-season action.
The Royals wasted no time setting the tone, scoring just 53 seconds into the match when Roy Kyle found the back of the net off a crisp combination from Jordan Ross and Nathan Hunt. Bethel doubled its lead in the 37th minute as Ross tallied his first of the day, converting a setup from Crioni Menendez to make it 2–0. Carleton pulled one back just before halftime, but Bethel carried a 2–1 advantage into the break.
In the second half, the Royals' offensive pressure proved too much for the Knights. Ross struck again in the 80th minute—his second of the match and 12th of the season—off another assist from Hunt. Just two minutes later, Ross completed his hat trick with a composed finish from the penalty spot, putting the game out of reach at 4–1 before a late Carleton goal made it 4–2.
Bethel controlled much of the match, outshooting the Knights 21–11 and earning 10 corner kicks to Carleton's six. The Royals' midfield dictated pace and possession throughout, while the back line held steady against a late Carleton push.
The win highlights the momentum Bethel has built in the closing stretch of the season, combining attacking creativity with organized defending.
The Royals will look to close out their home slate on a high note when they host UW–River Falls on Monday at 3:30 p.m. at Ona Orth Athletic Complex.
