Northfield, Minn. — October 11, 2025 — The Bethel University men's soccer team got on the board first Saturday afternoon but couldn't hold off a nationally ranked St. Olaf squad, falling 4–1 on the road at Rolf Mellby Field.
The Royals opened the scoring in the 12th minute when Carter Sheard netted his sixth goal of the season. Jordan Ross provided the assist, sending a cross back into the box that Sheard buried into the top of the net to give Bethel an early 1–0 lead.
St. Olaf responded with two goals before halftime and added two more in the second half to secure the win. Despite the scoreline, Bethel competed hard throughout, totaling 17 shots (six on goal) and earning three corners against a tough Ole defense.
Sheard's goal highlighted another strong offensive outing for the Royals, while Roy Kyle helped anchor the team's effort on both ends. Griffin Blokker finished the afternoon with four saves in goal for Bethel.
With the result, Bethel moves to 7–4–2 overall and 3–3–0 in MIAC play. The Royals will look to bounce back on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. when they travel to Augsburg for another key MIAC matchup.
