BLAINE, Minn. — The Bethel University men's hockey team salvaged a split by winning the finale of a two game weekend series with the St.Scholastica Saints, 2-1.
Jack Brown got the Royals on the board first at the 7:10 mark of the first period, grabbing a rebound in front of the net for his sixth goal of the season as the Royals carried the one goal lead into the first intermission.
Dane Stoyanoff extended the Royals lead to two at the 14:28 mark in the second period, firing a shot from the point past the Saints goaltender for his second goal of the year.
The Saints answered at the midway point of the third period to make it a 2-1 game.
With one minute to play St. Scholastica pulled its goalie for the extra attacker. The Royals defense held strong, blocking multiple shots in front of the net to hang on for a 2-1 win and a series split.
The win improves the Royals to 9-6-2 on the season and 5-2-1 in the MIAC.
