DULUTH, Minn. – A three-goal second period wasn't enough for the Bethel University men's hockey take who dropped its series opener at St. Scholastica Friday evening, 4-3.
Bethel went into the first intermission trailing 1-0 after CSS scored with 4:30 left in the opening period. The Royals bounced back nicely in the second with three goals in the span of two minutes and 37 seconds.
Jeremiah Konkel got the scoring started 3:56 into the second with his fifth goal of the year.
Tyler Braccini followed that up with his team-leading 11th of the year just over 90 seconds later.
Connor Brazil gave the Royals a 3-1 lead with his third of the year, scoring at the 6:33 mark of the period.
The Saints evened it up in the final six minutes of the second including a power-play goal with under three minutes left until the second intermission.
St. Scholastica scored the eventual game-winner at the 8:37 mark of the third. BU was kept off the scoreboard in the final 20 minutes despite outshooting the Saints 15-7 and having an extra skater with the empty net in the final two minutes.

Now 8-6-2 on the year and 4-2-1 in MIAC play, the Royals and Saints wrap up the series Saturday night in Blaine. Puck drop is set for 5 p.m.
