BLAINE, Minn. – With 47 ticks left in the 3-on-3 overtime, junior defense
Spencer Kring put in a rebound shot, lifting the Bethel University men's hockey team to a 4-3 win over Augsburg.
Tyler Braccini's shot from the right side bounced off the Auggie netminder's pad and right to Kring for the game-winning score as the Royals earned two points in the MIAC standings where they sit fourth.
Kring broke the scoreless tie with a power play goal at the 7:57 mark of the second.
Braccini made it a two-score game by firing a one-timer from the right circle right past the Auggies' netminder. With just over 10 minutes to go in the second.
Joe Westlund poked it lose in the Auggies offensive zone to
Jack Brown who made a nice dish to Braccini who brought it into the zone before dishing to Braccini.
Jake Herter put the Royals up 3-0 just 1:17 into the third. The Auggies got one of those goals back with just over 13 minutes left in regulation and while on the power play.
Augsburg's second goal in the period came after a long pass from their defensive zone made it through the neutral zone to Conner Schneider who snuck it through the five hole of
Austin Ryman. The Auggies got the equalizer with an extra attacker tying it with 94 seconds left in the period.
The Royals held a 49-35 edge in the shots on goal battle while Ryman finished the night with 32 saves.
